1981 Wente Petite Sirah

4/4/2012-Gary Rose and Laura Laskowski hosted the Wednesday knitters dinner featuring pork tenderloin with sweet potatoes and carrots, with a Knitters salad.  The brown bag wine for the evening was an outstanding Wente Petite Sirah, which was guessed by the Host Gary Rose.  Our experience with this varietal is that it doesn’t change much after many years of ageing, and this wine was no exception.  Sweet plums, very fruity, little browning and surprisingly very enjoyable.

I am new to the wine world, but I actually just picked up this exact bottle of wine, 1981 Wente Petite. So just to make sure, it's still okay to drink after 30 years? Did I get a good deal for $20?
